One (Or maybe two) Pounds at a Time!
Week 2, Day 2
Debra

In the realm of the diet, I don’t have much to say. I’m really tired today, and just don’t feel like moving much. But I did my DDR time, and did half of my arm exercises- maybe I will finish those in a little bit, I dunno. Either way I’m well within the desired realm of calories so not too worried about it.

Mom went to the store today and got everything I asked for so maybe tomorrow night I will try to make the curry. She had a hard time finding plain yogurt at first, all she could find was vanilla, and while I was willing to try it, I figured it was gonna taste a little funny. In the end though, she found it. Speaking of, I should go take my chicken out of the freezer so it can start thawing in the fridge overnight. Figure I should eat as well as possible tomorrow too since Thursday and Friday who knows what I’ll be eating.

I hope I’m not this tired Thursday and Friday. That’ll suck. But hey- tomorrow I can sleep as late as I want to because IT’S MY BIRTHDAY (and I can do what I want!)!

Week 2, Day 1.
Debra

I forgot to repost a few of my entries here, but let's just summarize the previous week by saying I exercised a lot, and I ate more then I can remember eating in a day in ages. However, it seems to have got my metabolism up and moving, because, well, read on!

I waited until towards the end of the day as I figured that would give me the most accurate weigh-in. I kind of feel like it’s cheating to weigh myself first thing after I use the bathroom and am still naked even if it is probably most accurate. Especially since my last weigh-in was also towards the end of the day. Anyway, according to the scale that I still distrust a little, it looks like I am down 4 pounds from the last official weigh-in.

Last night I had a moment of weakness when I found myself still hungry after dinner and not only served up some more of what I had for dinner, but some cottage cheese as well. Next time I need to remember self-control and have one or the other, but not both. I really didn’t need both of them. The damages weren’t horrible as I had a really low calorie intake for the day previous to that, but it still put me a little above where I wanted to be. That said, I feel like all I do now is eat, since I started exercising.

I’m still searching for good recipes to keep trying out, but here’s the link to the curry one I want to try this week. I also saw a sesame chicken one that looks really good- it’s just too bad I’m not crazy about sesame. I’ll probably try it anyway though as it really does look like it will be good if I can just ignore that fact. I know, I sound silly.

I also managed to do 25 minutes of my DDR time all at once without being badly out of breath. Each day I’ve been going as long as I can without getting too wore out or getting to the point where I make a lot of mistakes. I’m hoping that three weeks from now I can not only do 30 to 40 minutes a day all at once, but I can do it fairly easily too. Maybe that latter is a lot to ask, but I’m sure by that point I’ll be doing it all at once without too much trouble- I’m almost there now. Being able to sustain aerobic activity for more then 30 minutes at a time is supposed to help you burn off more fat that say doing 15 minutes here and 15 minutes there. And I’ve got plenty of fat to burn!

Day One.
Debra

Today I started (once again) watching what I’m eating and officially restarting the exercise thing. I’m already realizing how much snacking I’ve apparently been doing as all day I’ve just wanted to find something to munch on. I’m not actually hungry though, so it’s ancient jolly ranchers for me instead. My Mom has bags of them all over the house that she gets form work, but they are something like 90% cinnamon which I don’t like, 7% apple, and 3% all other flavors- Not very good odds for finding a flavor you like if you’re not into cinnamon.

But it’s better then me snacking on everything else in the house.

My goal for this week? To burn a minimum of 3,500 (extra) calories.

Tonight after the day is done B and I can compare notes about what we ate and did. I’m actually looking forward to it. :)

Once Again...
Debra

Once again I am going to endeavor to get this weight off. I went to the doctor the other day, and as I said, I’ve gained all but 8 pounds of what I lost back over this last year of sitting around doing nothing. I mean that literally. I think the last time I actually exercised was in March.

Anyway, I added a weight loss ticker to my FaceBook page (after seeing B had done one), so what I hope to do is officially public. Hopefully that will help in motivating me a little bit. I plan to take my crazy red dog for a walk every afternoon that I can talk my Mom into taking Moppet for a walk, as it’s a lot more fun to go for a walk with someone then by yourself.

I’m also planning on getting back into playing DDR. I played for 15 minutes today and I was pooped. I don’t know how I used to play for 30 minutes to an hour before. But I figure I can take it slow and start with 15 minutes a day for a week or so and slowly work myself up. Even 15 minutes a day is 15 minutes more then I’ve been doing so it should help.

Encouraging comments are very welcome- so are kicks in the backside as I need all the help I can get!

-Addendum-

Here’s my weight loss ticker. As you can see, my BMI is way up there at 38. That’s not just obese, that’s in the range of morbidly obese. Hopefully in the next few weeks I’ll start to see that number come down gradually. Interestingly enough, the weight I want to eventually reach is still (barely) categorized as “overweight” by BMI standarards.

I found this page the other day when Stumbling, and it’s a very interesting set of images, noting where in the range of underweight, healthy, overweight, or obese each of the people in them are based on BMI. As you’ll see, many of these women and men have beautiful, healthy looking bodies, but they’re listed as overweight or even obese in a few cases.

So look for my ticker to make future appearances, hopefully every few weeks. I’m not big on weighing in every day or even every week, so progress might not appear as quickly as it happens. I am confident that not only is this going to go well, it’s going to be fun!
