The recently revitalised downtown of Cleveland boasts several new places to spend the day, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, honouring the musicians of that specifically 20th-century musical form.
The museum was built by IM Pei and is contains hundreds of Hall of Fame dedications awarded to various rock artists, while new artists are inducted yearly. In 2004 the "inductees" comprised Jackson Browne, The Dells, George Harrison, Prince, Bob Seger, Traffic and ZZ Top.
There is an interactive chronological timeline of rock as well as several free short films that visitors can view, tracing rock through its various stages and influences. The permanent collection also includes the exhibit 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll, as well as various costume and clothing displays, songsheets, handwritten lyrics and musical instruments owned by the stars.
