January 18, 2008Mike Huckabee is a politician who practices healthy living and has managed to lose no less than 105 pounds in a year. While Arkansas' Governor, Huckabee also worked to stop his state`s obesity plague.
Huckabee is 5 ft 11 in and when he was 280 pounds he followed a friend`s advice and started a weight loss plan. The main purpose was to change his lifestyle into a healthier one and get fit, not to lose weight, said Huckabee. It`s not good to set weight loss as your goal because once you have achieved it, you may be tempted to go back to your unhealthy habits, he added.
Although he no longer shows any symptoms of diabetes, he still has a diabetic lifestyle with daily exercises.
The ex-Governor also wrote a book called “Quit Digging Your Grave with a Knife and Fork” with the purpose to help successful, busy, middle-aged men change their lifestyle. If you`re looking for detailed information about nutrition problems, recipes, or a miraculous weight loss plan, that is not what you need. This is a motivational book written by a very busy person who is not an expert in nutrition but who had a weight loss success that changed his life.
Huckabee claims if you follow twelve simple rules for twelve days, you will be able to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Mike Huckabee`s twelve "stops" include: stop procrastinating, stop sitting on the couch, stop listening to destructive criticism, stop whining, stop storing provisions for failure, stop seeing food as a reward, stop making excuses, stop ignoring signals from your body, stop expecting immediate success, stop making exceptions, stop fueling with contaminated food, and stop neglecting your spiritual health.
