Lose Weight with the Hallelujah Diet
By Alice Mitchell, Project Weight Loss Editor
February 09, 2009

The Hallelujah diet was created by George Malkmus and his wife, Rhonda, who helped him with the recipe books. This was their way of educating people on “God’s way to optimal health”. The diet is a controversed low-calorie one, that consists of 15% cooked food and 85% raw organic food. So, if you’re a vegetarian, this might just be the perfect diet.

Malkmus has got the simplest explanation for the fact that this is the best weight loss program out there. "Our bodies are designed by God to receive raw or living foods, where the life force and nutrition are available to nourish our bodies and prevent disease," says Malkmus.

Since this is a restrictive diet, weight loss will probably result. Gaining weight is almost impossible if the diet is followed correctly. The toughest thing about this diet would be the hunger feeling, which will probably appear if you are used to eating until you feel satisfied.
The basic foods in this diet are plant foods and vegetables, which have nutrients.

“Your digestive system only extracts 35% of nutrients in food, whereas when you juice the food, it is like an intravenous shot of nutrients, and you will absorb 92% of available nutrients," explains Malkmus. Also, three times a day, the menu will include a supplement called “barleymax” and cooked meals are only allowed at dinner.

Exercise is also recommended. 30 minutes of strength training and stretching will constitute the daily workout dose. Malkmus idea for this diet is that following a raw organic food diet will, most probably, remove the cravings for unhealthy products such as sugar, salt, animal products, and caffeine.
