Brooke Burke on Post-Baby Regime

By Alice Mitchell, Project Weight Loss Editor
March 03, 2009

Brooke Burke gave birth to baby #4 in 2008 and four weeks later she was looking as if she had been working out and dieting for a year. She now fits back perfectly into her skinny jeans, but then again, it’s no wonder considering after three children you become an expert. So, what does this expert advice us?

Brooke said she isn’t revealing her post-baby regime to make other mommies feel bad, but because “I simply want to tell you what I have been doing in hopes that it may help some of you”, which is admirable, I might add.  When it comes to her diet, here is how Brooke describes a typical day: “I try to eat 5 times a day, small meals, every three hours or so. If I get too busy, some of those meals may be a protein bar or simply an apple and some almonds.” She argues this is not a diet , but a healthy life with the right eating habits.

For breakfast, Brooke has oatmeal made with water and brown sugar, and coffee with milk and sweetener. Her favorite snacks are non-fat yoghurt, protein bars, low-fat cottage cheese with fresh pineapple, an apple with almonds, a protein shake with nonfat milk, a half of a banana and a tablespoon of butter. For lunch, she has chicken with a salad made of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado, olive oil and vinegar. Dinner consists of a fillet mignon with asparagus sushi and Caesar salad or a grilled salmon with vegetables.

“I never starve, and I know that the only way for me to lose weight fast is actually by eating more often and keeping it smart.  I avoid carbs later in the day.  I never drink juice (too much sugar) and I try to stay away from bread, especially white flour.  I drink lots of water with lemon and hot green or fresh mint tea.  I only drink water, never soda.  I do have a glass of red wine with dinner sometimes, which I really enjoy.  I keep my meals small and try never to skip them. I really do enjoy what I eat and if I am craving something bad, I have it, but only a few bites!  Small smart meals really work,” she explains.
