What Are the Chances that Phillies Will Extend the World Series after Game 5?
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer

The Phillies may be demoralized after their loss in Game 4, but there’s still hope. The solution would be a breakout game from the offense. On whom is Phillies counting on?

The Phillies may be demoralized after their loss in Game 4, but there’s still hope. The solution would be a breakout game from the offense. On whom is Phillies counting on?

The only victory Phillies obtained is from Game 1, thanks to Cliff Lee. He dominated the games, as a result of his off-season workout routine. The left-handed Phillies pitcher has several injuries, but the recovery only made him stronger.

In 2007 Cliff was hampered by an abdominal sprain, followed by a stiff neck. They say what doesn't kill, you makes you stronger. Well, on his off-season work, Cliff has improved his pitching fitness and mechanics, also recovering from the abdominal sprain. The result? In 2008 he had a winning percentage of 88%, the twelfth best of all time, and the second best in Indians history, following Johnny Allen who had 93.8% in 1937.

An abdominal sprain may occur after a forceful activity. The injury is best known as a “pulled” muscle. Minor or serious problem, it must be taken care of fast, otherwise it can linger. Ice is the most common “treatment,” which is not bad, unless you stop here. It must continue with anti-inflammatory treatment and rest.

Strengthening the abdominal muscles sufficiently is the secret of a successful fitness workout. To do that, it is recommended to build up the abdominal area. You can do adductor stretches, sit-ups, crunches, yoga, and Pilates. All those are core exercises.

I’m sure I don’t have to say the warm-up is “a must.” Boys usually can’t stay away from weight lifting, so, boys, talk to a trainer first, to make sure you’re in a good form. Breathing technique is also an important element in a training program.

Cliff Lee improved his mechanics of pitching with lots of flexing, stretching, rotations, extensions, and abductions. Don’t get sad if you suffered an injury. Follow Cliff’s example and get stronger through your recovery.
