November 06, 2007Food is not healthy when it`s not balanced or transformed. However, an unhealthy food may become better, and otherwise. For instance, the potatoes with peel in moderate amounts are a great source of energy, fibers, vitamins, and minerals. Here are a few ideas of how to ruin a good meal and a few ways to repair it.
Many restaurants offer great salads along with chicken or grill. Sounds healthy? You can “fix” that by adding cheese or fats. Lean meat, grilled chicken, vinegar, olive oil, lemon juice, and a little pepper along with the salad may save you from a few hundred extra-calories.
Starting the meal with a soup is a good strategy to maintain your weight and control appetite. However, the type of soup and portion size also counts so the best way to ruin a good soup is to add cream or cheese.
Chicken or fish should be a part of your menu if you want to lose weight. If you add butter, sauces, or fry it too much it`s no longer healthy. These foods should be prepared in the oven or boiled in order to avoid the fats.
If you`re on a diet it doesn`t mean you must avoid desserts. All you need to do is to pay attention to portion sizes, and don`t serve desserts every day. A good choice is the fruit sherbet which is low in calories and fats.
A good meal may be also ruined by drinking too much alcohol. For instance, it`s more indicated to drink a glass of red wine instead of having a cocktail.
