July 07, 2008Charlize Theron is definitely more than just a pretty face. She has displayed her acting talents in a wide variety of movie characters. Currently, after the premiere of “Hancock,” the actress found herself in the spotlight looking at her best.
Charlize was born in South Africa and started her career at sixteen as a model. However, she decided she didn`t want to slim down only because of the pressure the modeling industry put on her, so she quit modeling. After that she trained to be a ballet dancer being aware of the fact that she could have been a supermodel if she would have lost weight.
Modeling for her was just a way to pay for her dancing career, but unfortunately by the time she was nineteen she suffered a serious knee injury and she had to quit. This could have been a catastrophy for most people, but she saw it as an opportunity. Shortly afterwards, she became an actress.
From the beginning, she tried to avoid being casted in movies where she simply had to play "the pretty face." She looked for challenging roles. Her efforts paid off when she won the Academy Award for her role in "Monster." For that movie, she had to gain about thirty pounds. She enjoys eating made her happy so she didn`t have any problems gaining weight.
After "Monster" she had to lose back the thirty pounds, and she succeeded with no major efforts. She credits this to the fact that she is an athletic woman, with a very active lifestyle. According to her, she hated being fat but also hated being so thin: “I remember being cold and wrapping my arms around my body and feeling ribs and bone. I felt totally unsexy.“
Charlize Theron thinks a woman with curves is feminine and she loves a curvy body. She also loves the fact that usually she is a size 10. After all the transformations her body suffered she stabilized to a well - balanced diet and workout program by cutting off alcohol and cigarettes.
She doesn`t work out daily but she still enjoys dancing and she practices yoga, runs and sometimes ice skates in order to keep fit. When she has time she takes up some soft gym exercises, so that she is sure she works every muscle group.
Her every day diet goes around two meals. For breakfast she has two slices of bran bread, a tomato, a lettuce and fifty grams of tuna. For dinner she goes for: one fish cutlet, one toast, a raw vegetables salad filled with lemon juice, and raw fruits - an orange, an apple, a pear, a small banana or two plums. For supper she has two hundred grams of grilled chicken, baked tomatoes, boiled mushrooms and a salad from fresh fruits and cabbage celery.
She also drinks a glass of dry wine because it hastens the metabolism. Her top African treat is: traditional braai. Braai consists in: juicy lamb chops made on wood fire with spicy sausages, baked potatoes with salads.
Junk food plays in important part in her life. She can`t cut off junk food, so when she feels the need to eat an hamburger she buys one eating only a quarter just to satisfy her need for junk food. You can easily fooled by her looks but as the article shows, you don`t have to make an extra effort to eat what you want and look great!
