Nicole Kidman: Getting Back in Shape After Pregnancy

By Oana Pop, Project Weight Loss Editor
July 13, 2008

Nicole Kidman recently gave birth to a little girl named Sunday. The pregnancy period was very important and challenging to her. She managed to keep a healthy lifestyle and diet, which should help her get back in shape with little effort now that the pregnancy is over.

The problem of weight loss after delivering a baby is a stress issue to most celebs, but not for Nicole Kidman. If you are a new mother eager to get back to your pre-pregnancy shape, doctors say there are some things you can learn from the celebrities.

During the pregnancy period, Nicole has kept her lean and toned body shape. She wasn`t stressed about her diet, but she took care of what she ate, and worked out until the seven month of her pregnancy.

In her pregnancy period Nicole was seen visiting a Santa Monica gym where she took up special exercises for pregnant mothers. She took a class of yoga, combined with cardio and sculpting.

Her diet is a balanced one and she uses portion control to avoid putting on weight. Her work out routine before the pregnancy was running outdoors, usually seven miles during the week, taking it to ten or twelve miles on the weekend.

Being born in Hawaii, Nicole took up swimming lessons, and she swims laps and sometimes practices yoga. She is also known for her addiction to cakes. The pregnancy period was more permissive allowing her to skip some beats from her diet.

She enjoyed eating pies and cakes, but now during the post–partum period everything changes. It is said that during the breast feeding period women lose weight more rapidly.

Breastfeeding can help new mothers burn up to 600 calories a day. Actually, new mothers tend to lose even more weight when their babies are two to six months than formula-feeding mothers who consume fewer calories.

Time is very important when it comes to overcoming a pregnancy and the weight loss after the post–partum. Doctors say new mothers should wait about two months after the baby was delivered to start a diet.

There still are celebrities fighting to get rid of the weight they put on during a pregnancy, so if you are in the same type of struggle, remember you are not alone!
