August 21, 2008Movie star America Ferrera, famous for her part in “Ugly Betty”, is one of the Hollywood stars who don`t take that much interest about their weight as long as they feel confident about themselves. She has tried almost any diet and she came to the conclusion that there was none made for her, so she just had to make one.
She says that “You have to build a normal relationship with exercise and food, for me it's not about looking like a supermodel - it's about feeling good about who I am naturally." She also talks about sizes: "We're not all a size 2 and we're not all a size 0, and you know what? That's okay because some of us like to eat!"
America got to be appreciated because of her sociable nature and the fact that she cares more about people around her then herself.
She loves her curvaceous figure. At the premiere of “Ugly Betty” she amazed everyone by the way she looked. She lost about 20 pounds and the media noticed that immediately. Some even thought their eyes were deceiving them.
A friend of America said: “She’s lost about 20 pounds at this point, and a few inches all over. She has replaced a lot of the fat that was on her body with lean muscle.” Living in Hollywood can be hard sometimes and because the industry prefers skin – thin over zaftig, there are many who wonder if the actress lost weight on purpose.
She said she lost weight because of the expectations and because of the demanding schedule and the weight loss was not intentional. “I feel like I’m a regular person — I’m a size 6 or 8, which is totally normal… I do feel like if I wanted to get in better shape, there might be a backlash of ‘Why isn’t she comfortable with herself anymore?’”
Although the weight loss was not on purpose, America never skips breakfast and she eats as many fruits as possible and lean proteins. “She splurges on home-cooked Mexican food and she doesn’t skip dessert — she just splits it with friends or has a few bites.” She stopped eating fast food and started exercising.
Her work out is made of hiking, yoga and she completely changed her eating regime to a healthy eating plan which helps her stay energized. She eats breakfast and 2 snacks a day and this is how she avoids craving for doughnuts or croissants while being on set. Because of this new change in her program, America is off by two sizes and still going slim.
Her diet looks like this: for breakfast she has low fat fruit yoghurt, whole grain bread and an egg, for snack almonds, for lunch Chinese chicken salad or turkey breast rap, for snack whole grain crackers or low fat cheese, for dinner stir – fried veggies, grilled chicken and brown rice and as dessert a small scoop of ice cream or dark chocolate.
America says: “A perfect body doesn’t fix all your problems or make you love yourself more,” she’s said. “It’s all about being comfortable in your own skin.”
