Angelina Jolie and 5-Factor Fitness

By Alice Mitchell, Project Weight Loss Editor
October 06, 2008

It’s hard not to be an Angelina Jolie fan.  It’s either her acting career, her charity benefits, her adopted children, or her unbelievable handsome husband.  But let’s not kid ourselves; she’s mostly famous for her perfectly fit, sexy body and awesome lips.  Remember Lara Craft’s Tomb Raider?  How did she get that fit?  Is it really gens, considering her ex-model mom?

Angelina Jolie recently gave birth to twins but she didn’t forget to look great on the red carpet. New York Film Festival and Saturday’s premiere of her movie, “Changeling”, a thriller directed by Clint Eastwood, acknowledged the actress’s success.  "It's a phenomenon.  She just gathers attention. … If I ever run for office, she could be my VP," said the director. It seems she picked for the part of Lara Craft, Angelina Jolie picked one of the best fitness trainers in Hollywood.  Harley Pasternak is known to be a guru to the stars because of his fitness program, 5-Factor-Fitness, which combines eating and exercise.  It includes a 5 days workout, 25 minutes long, and a healthy diet with 5 meals a day.

The good thing about this diet is that it doesn’t involve counting calories.  It’s all about eating healthy, combining food with low glycemic carbs, healthy fats, proteins, and high amounts of fiber. When it came to her workout that lead to that fit body of hers, it wasn’t easy but it most certainly was out of the ordinary.  It included kickboxing, scuba diving, canoeing, yoga, street fighting. How do these help burning fat?  Kickboxing, for example, is a very intense sport.  It’s about high speed, repetitions, breathing endurance, optimization of hips.  An hour of this and it can burn approximately 600-800 calories.  Also, it tones the muscles of the body, improving the strength.

Josh Salzmann, another fitness expert that has helped the 33-year-old actress keep fit, reveals the “five must-dos’”: get enough sleep, drink water, at least eight up to 10 glasses a day, a day off between workouts, plan ahead, and, most importantly, read the label of the products you buy.
