November 24, 2008Ashlee Simpson has recently given birth to a child, but if you didn’t look at her "mummy tummy", you could’ve missed the fact she was pregnant. Even before, she was known for her 30 minutes workout which helped her transform her body from just a slim, shapeless figure to a toned, curved, amazing body. What’s her secret?
A moderate diet and balanced meals are her solutions. For example, "if I have pizza or Taco Bell one day, I'll have home-cooked meals the next." Her meal plan looks like this: strawberry yoghurt for breakfast, turkey and veggies for lunch and fish or chicken with veggies for dinner. So, she mostly eats grilled meat and greens, which contain high protein and low carb.
Ashlee follows the South Beach Diet but not religiously, because she allows small portions of whatever food she’s craving that day. "I try to listen to what my body craves. Sometimes it tells me to eat more fruit, but sometimes it tells me to eat Skittles," admits the singer. The "Taco Bell" day, how she calls her cheating day, makes her feel good, even though she knows it’s unhealthy food. But the cheating day is recommended by most bodybuilders.
Ashlee chose to get the help of personal trainer Mike Alexander, which previously trained her sister. She trains at home, where she’s got the celebrity backyard. "Her backyard has about 30-40 steps, so I have her jog down, do lunges for the length of the pool, jog back up the stairs, then do a set of squats," explains her trainer. She also practices Pilates, which helps her burn that "bad" food.
