Jaime King, the Special Diet of a Model-Turned-Actress
By Alice Mitchell, Project Weight Loss Editor
December 22, 2008

Jamie King stars in the Frank Miller movie “The Spirit” and its premiere will be on 25th December.  The model with a man’s name, as she is often referred to, is “one of the original model-turned-actresses”, as Complex magazine described her.  Her apparitions in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Mademoiselle are well known but also her film roles on Pearl Harbor, Bulletproof and Sin City. So, how does she do it?

The 29-year-old model has been posing for magazines since she was 19, when she first appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine. After that her irresistible figure became a must-have for numerous publications like Seventeen and also Playboy. Due to the fact she’s also a model, many may think she’s not affected by the size-zero Hollywood body standards.  “There’s so much pressure to look thin and to be a size zero. It’s crazy, and my point of view is: Yes, I want to look good, but I’m not starving myself to look good,” King said.

King got the help of nutritionist David Allen to help her eat healthy and maintain the fabulous figure.  The diet she is following is not extremely strict because she can vary from 1,200 calories a day to 1,400. Every two days she alternates the calorie intake. “On certain days, I like to eat raw until dinner and then have some protein. I’m not perfect: I have a sweet tooth, and I love French fries,” explains the model.

She also ads that an exaggeratedly restrictive diet may block a person from enjoying life. For instance, she eats eggs for breakfast and gluten-free toast. Lunch and dinner are also simple, a salad, some kind of protein and vegetables. “Sometimes a baked potato. I’m a big fan of baked potatoes,” she added.

Don’t think dessert is not on her menu. She allows herself once in a while to eat dessert and foods that contain sugar. In order to eliminate those extra calories she works out every day with her personal trainer, Ramona Braganza, which is trains Jessica Alba. “Working out is so much easier when I’m with Jess. I don’t want to look like a wuss in front of her, so I push myself pretty hard”, said the actress.
