January 02, 2009The UltraSimple Diet was created by Dr. Mark Hyman, who has also written the bestseller “UltraMetabolism”. The weigh loss program is 7-days long and its goal is to reduce toxicity and inflammation, which Hyman believe that are the main factors that cause obesity. This may be a good solution to lose those pounds gained during the holidays.
“Being inflamed makes you fat and being fat makes you inflamed,” explains Hayman in his book. He also says that these problems are mostly caused by eating the wrong kind of foods. In order to achieve its goal, Hyman recommends eliminating from the diet foods that contain
caffeine, high-fructose corn syrup, alcohol, processed foods and fast foods, processed and refines carbs and sugar, and certain fats.
A caffeine addict may find it difficult to follow, but, in order to lose weight and detoxify the body, the sacrifice must be done. To make the process easier, Hyman advices dieters to pass through a period of transition and to gradually give up their “addiction” from the prohibited foods. Instead he replaces them with filtered water, lemons, nuts and seed, legumes, brown rice, fresh vegetables, lean white meat chicken (organic, if possible), fish, and fruits.
There are some side effects to take into consideration before starting this diet. After cutting out certain toxins the body used to be alimented with, headaches, nauseous and tiredness can appear. After the body gets used to the new eating regime the results are starting to show up: better skin, better mood and energy. The weight loss program also includes daily exercise such as yoga, walking and journaling.
