Eat Healhy and Exercise More. How Miley Cyrus is Doing it Right
By Alice Mitchell, Project Weight Loss Editor
January 21, 2009

Miley Cyrus performed last night at Kids Inaugural Concert and, after the show, she told Obama’s daughters how proud she is of their dad. Now, Miley’s performance was great and she looked sweet, as always, but did Michelle Obama know all the facts before saying those are the future of the nation? Should a 16-year-old girl follow a strict diet and hire a personal trainer in order to keep her fans happy?

Miley’s diet and workout routine have been a controversy since it was made public. This young female star, daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, said that her New Year’s Resolution for 2009 is to “eat healthy and exercise more”. That’s not a bad resolution, but should dieting be a priority in a teenager’s life? Maybe, if we consider the childhood obesity phenomena.

From that to hiring a personal trainer is a long way to go. Miley has got the hottest Hollywood accessory- Harley Pasternak, the author of 5-Factor Diet and Fitness. The plan includes working out five times a week for 25 minutes and eating five meals a day such as: protein berry shake, mushroom-barley risotto, antipasto, French toast with ricotta, and Indian style chicken with curried yogurt and brown rice.

“[Teens] should try to exercise at a moderate level for at least 60 minutes most days of the week. In addition to being active everyday, it is recommended that you spend 20 to 30 minutes of your exercise time doing vigorous aerobic activity at least 3 times a week. There are 3 main types of exercise: aerobic exercise, strength training, and stretching. All are important for good health,” said an expert from the University of Michigan Health System.

This means Miley is doing it right. The only thing is that she affords a personal trainer, as she’s a Hollywood celebrity.
