Jillian Barberie's High-Protein Diet
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer
June 12, 2009

Jillian Barberie works at the Los Angeles Fox affiliate station, job that she would have lost if she had accepted Hugh Hefner’s proposal to pose in Playboy magazine. No wonder with that hot body. Being a mommy sure didn’t make that easy for her, so what’s her secret?

The actress has changed her diet after giving birth to her daughter, Ruby Raven. She has a diet rich in proteins and limited in carbohydrates. This diet is harmless as long as you don’t have a kidney disease.

To achieve your weight loss goals try eating around 120 grams of protein a day. However, don’t increase it at once. It should be done slowly over the course of a week. Also you should remember that not all sorts of proteins have the same effects – you’re looking for lower in calories and fat sources, but also nutrient-rich, like soy, beans, lean meats, and low-fat dairy.

What can you do to increase your protein intake? Here are some tips:

When you exercise take a yogurt as a post-workout booster.

Do you like snacks? Choose fat-free mozzarella cheese. Another snack could be made of a hard-boiled egg or edamame beans.

At breakfast use milk instead of water. Eat oatmeal. Do you like cereals? Use a whole cup of milk. Don’t want cereals anymore? Eat new lean sausages or smoked salmon.

This is a healthy diet because you need proteins at all stages of life. Proteins are used for a variety of bodily functions, being the major component in muscles and bones.
