How to Be Athletic like Christian Eyenga
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer
June 26, 2009

Christian Eyenga is a young athletic basketball player. When it comes to dribble, Eyenga beats his opponents off, intimidating them in defense by collecting spectacular blocks.

Danny Ferry thinks Christian Eyenga can be good NBA player. So, what does it take to be athletic? Here are a few tips for boys and girls:

Boys

It’s easy - practice any sport that you like and study it. Learn as much as you can about that sport and ask your coach or a person who really knows it what strategies he knows. Of course, it doesn’t work if you go halfway – you must do your best.

You’ll need some muscles, so it would be good to lift weights three times per week. Don’t get discouraged if you have a little extra weight. You can fix this with more cardio in your workout program.

Don’t stick to a sport if you get bored. That’s not your way to success. Mix sports up when you get bored. On the other hand, you should choose a sport that you think it’s fun. It’s hard at the beginning, but don’t give up. Some sports are more difficult than others.

When you choose a sport, don’t do it because your friends play it, do it because you like it. Don’t show off while playing and don’t overdo it at first.

Girls

Trust in yourself and be good in what you do. Being embarrassed in the beginning about your poor skills won’t help you become athletic. Only by practice you’ll improve them, so ask your coach about some exercises you can do by your own.

Some girls are embarrassed about their physique. You have to be proud of your body. All you have to do is choose clothes that suit you. Being a sport player doesn’t mean you can’t be girly from time to time. E.g. get pedicures or a great haircut. You should look your best.

Complimenting your teammates that make a good play will help you get their attention. After the winning games you definitely should party with a popular group.

Don’t forget to make new friends too. You should be nice to everybody and invite them to your games. It’s best to know as many people as you can, they can help you improve your skills; they can be a moral support when things don’t go as good as planned.

Besides a good player you must be a good student too. You can’t play if you have bad grades. Also being social doesn’t mean you should neglect the sport you like.

There are innumerable ways to be athletic, but the most important is to do your best. Just work hard, improve yourself, find a style that fits and you’ll be just fine.
