You Cut the Calorie Intake with the “Bread for Life” Diet

This diet was created by Olga Raz, an Israeli nutritionist. The “Bread for Life” diet can cut cravings and lose 20 pounds in eight weeks. This diet is based on the premise that you can reduce cravings for sweet foods and decrease appetite, if you eat generous amounts of bread daily, according to EveryDiet.org. The “right” bread has 35-45 calories per slice, e.g. those that don’t contain nuts. It is recommended to choose whole grain bread because it has low glycemic index that helps you keep blood glucose levels more stable. An alternative would be other types of complex carbohydrates like brown rice, pasta, or oats. Sandwich fillings like margarine and butter are not allowed, but foods like peanut butter, mustard, hummus, or sugar free jelly are acceptable. Other foods that are OK to make a sandwich are smoked salmon, tuna, turkey and chicken, low fat cheese, and tofu. There’s no limit for most vegetables, but consider eating fruits with moderation, even avoiding fruit juices. According to Raz, they contain sugar that might raise blood glucose. Always ask for a dietitian’s advice when you want to start a diet. Not everybody responds the same way to a diet, so there’s a risk that this diet might have the opposite effect on you. ©2010 Project Weight Loss. All rights reserved.
