Eating Cookies and Losing Weight, Possible?
By Andrea Pelin, Project Weight Loss Editor June 30, 2010
What can possibly sound better than a weight loss program based on cookies? It may sound good, but this is actually a very low-calorie diet. Although there have been many versions of “cookie diets”, the cookie diet of Dr. Sanford Siegal has been very popular in 2002 and still seems to be used by many dieters.
How does this diet work? All that you need to do is have six of Dr. Siegal`s special cookies during the day when you are hungry. The cookies need to be consumed along with eight glasses of liquid.
According to Dr. Siegal, besides the cookie snacks dieters have only dinner and this meal should consist of six ounces of lean proteins, usually found in turkey, seafood, fish, or chicken.
The total calorie intake is around 800 calories per day, and the carbohydrates intake of only 70 grams per day.
Dr. Siegal admits that the cookies do not taste extremely good although they are available in raisins, coconut, or chocolate flavor and the fact that they have appetite-suppressant properties.
Is this diet efficient? Some experts claim that any low-calorie diet works. On the other hand, critics say that low-calories diets are not healthy since the dieters lack vitamins, fibers, and minerals and people can regain a lot of weight when they go back to their old eating habits.
