Jason Statham's "Six Week Miracle"
By Neil Stadford, Project Weight Loss Editor Diet
May 13, 2008

Two-time ”Men’s Health” cover star and Hollywood action hero Jason Statham took on a brutal new training regime and got ripped by dropping sixteen pounds in six weeks. So, what are you waiting for?

Statham admits that he is carrying a few extra pounds. But there’s muscle too, only no definition. His weight gain came the way it does for most people: too many beers and extra servings, compounded over time. He never cared about calories. Although he was staying active filming his action movies, the pounds still hung there like the ghost of past meals.

Today, he proudly lifts his shirt to show his abs. He looks every inch the hero. That was accomplished by working out six days a week for, at most, forty minutes a day.

There are only two rules to this workout. First, no repeats, meaning every day has a different combination of exercises. You repeat exercises over the six weeks, but you’ll never do that same combination twice. That’s what keeps it so interesting. And second, record everything. All work must be tracked down so that intensity can be maximised. If you want to get faster, stronger and healthier you have to record and track progress. Making progress is the primary goal. By recording it you’ll know when you’re slacking off.

Whatever exercises you’re choosing, the point is to have three stages. Stage one is the ten-minute warm-up. Any cardio equipment will do. Stage two means ten minutes at medium intensity, where variety kicks in. And finally, stage three. This is called interval training. The point is to find a balance of total body work, so pick six basic exercises and go full out. Do one six-exercise circuit five times. Rest for ten seconds between exercises. Know your limits.

Statham credits intelligent eating as a big part of his rapid weight loss. And he’s not starving. He records everything he consumes, including water. He tries to drink five litres a day, to keep him feeling full. No refined sugar or flour at all, ever. Bread and pasta are out, as are all sweets. No fruit juices and no booze. That’s the hardest part.He has six small meals daily. The foods aren’t surprising. Eggs, vegetables, lean meats, fish, nuts and protein shakes.

All in all, Statham’s active lifestyle is what keeps him in cover-model shape, always delivering perfection.
