Be In Shape like A True Champion

Kerri Walsh has won the gold medal at the Olympics in 2004 and now she is preparing for some other medals to take back home. Wearing a bikini daily means that you have to feel confident about yourself and feel good about the way you look.

"I like showing off what I've worked hard to get with countless lunges, sit-ups and hours on the court, plus eating healthy, nutritious foods like natural whey protein and lots of veggies and drinking green tea”, says Kerri Walsh.

In the summer time we like to hit the ground running and we take up any summer sport that makes us stay in shape. Well, Dane Selznick, Kerri’s coach, thinks that the most important tip for fitness is that summer athletes should take everything slow and easy.

"One of the things I see happen time and again is folks trying to make up for a season or a period of inactivity by going at it too hard when the activity begins," says Selznick, nominated for the United States Olympic Committee National Coach of the Year award.

Kerri is always on the right track with her workout routine because of her coach who watches out for her and keeps her program balanced. She says it`s very important to warm up before each practice and you must know the limits of your practice and not get exhausted.

Kerri’s regular workout involves a form of resistance training, formally known as “fast twitch”, which refers to generate most power while contracting the muscles fibers the quickest. Walsh also works out with a medicine or yoga ball for overall strength training.

Kerri considers that fitness “improves core strength and balance and this can be beneficial no matter what activity you're doing.” Regarding her diet, Kerri is very attentive with what she eats and she feels better when eating organic food.

She is also keen on one food supplement: flaxseed oil. Kerri says: "It's something that one of our trainers highly recommends. And I've found it helps my metabolism, and it helps in the recovery process. I saw a big difference after I started using it in terms of stamina and in terms of healing quicker from injuries.”
