Madonna: The secret to Being Forever Young
By Alice Mitchell, Project Weight Loss Editor
October 16, 2008

Being forever young is a utopia but people still dream about it.  Madonna proves, against all odds, women can stay young and in shape even after 50 and after giving birth to two children. Yes, she is getting a divorce but it’s very improbable she’ll be eating tons of ice cream after this.  She has her guru fitness image to keep.

Even is she’s known as a great singer, for a few years now she’s become a fitness guru.  Looking at her great body, she must have a lot of advices and tips on how to lose weight and keep fit. Madonna practices Ashtanga Yoga and follows a strict diet. Traditional junk food is not on the menu and is never to be mentioned in her presence. Only organic food is in order.  A diet based on whole grains, fish, vegetables, and beans is a healthy diet Madonna follows, also known as the macrobiotic diet.  This means processed food is excluded from the diet because, as trainer Tracy Anderson says, is "bloating and upset your digestive system, which causes you to store fat."

The diet also prohibits alcohol and caffeine, which is to be replaced with 1.5 up to 3 liters of water a day. Dancing at concerts, preparing for her videos are more than a workout.  Madonna’s moves from her singles are being used for aerobic classes and people listen to her songs while running on the treadmill or working out.  She’s a role model when it comes to having a healthy and active life.  Because of her ripped body and her fitness addiction, tabloids review her as a freak, but looking great past 50 is never a freaky thing, is it?

Pilates, yoga, ballet-oriented workouts are just a few of what Madonna does in order to keep fit.  A workout takes up to three-four hours a day, six days a week.  She starts her day with yoga, then Pilates, at a studio, and after lunch, she either swims, runs, cycles or goes to karate classes.  The singer also enjoys weightlifting and, occasionally, horse riding.  Well, she loves working out. But even with all that strength from all those exercises, it seems Madonna has her weak moments, as a human that she is.  "When I'm sneaking and I'm having a moment of decadence, I eat toast with strawberry jam," she says.  This takes the freak characteristic out of her.
