Will Smith: "The Key to Life Is on the Treadmill"
By Alice Mitchell, Project Weight Loss Editor
November 12, 2008

Steven Spielberg is thinking about a remake of Park Chan’s movie “Oldboy”, one of the greatest Korean movies ever and winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2004. And who better to play the lead role than Will Smith? It may not be official, but after his stunning performance in “The Pursuit of Happyness”, who can say no to Will? Or to his sun, Jaden, for that matter, whose name is, these days, in the headlines of almost every magazine. How does this famous father and brilliant actor find time to work out or whatever it is that he does to look so hot?

Will Smith has got an athletic body and perfectly defined muscles. It’s almost unbelievable he’s got time to take care of his body, considering he has a son and a career which takes a lot of his time. But the thing is that the parts he plays, most often in action films, require a certain look. For example, for his part in “I am Legend”, Will trained for nine month and lost almost 7 kilos of fat. He admits this is more a habit than a challenge.

For the movie “Ali”, Smith worked out six hours a day, five days a week. He was lifting weights and boxing, and, as a result, he increased his muscular weight with 35 pounds.
Even if he’s not struggling to lose weight for a movie, he still takes care of his body. The 40-year-old actor likes to go jogging almost every day. Will also trains in the studio in order to maintain the muscle mass. An important thing about his eating habits are the choices to avoid fast food and eliminate “bad” carbs.

The actor explains that his diet is more a healthy lifestyle and that is due to the fact that for Will a healthy physic is a healthy mind. “I feel like everything in my life depends on physical conditioning. I love eating sweets and everything, but I think the quality of my parenting - is all based on being on great physical condition […] I believe it's the beginning of finding true happiness,” said the actor.
