August 04, 2009 Sugarland is releasing a live CD/DVD package, “Live on the Inside” exclusive to Walmart stores. During the ABC aired concert Jennifer Nettles wore Led Zeppelin and The Clash t-shirts – she looked great. So did Kristian Bush – no wonder since they try to work out daily. What exercises do they have?
If before yoga was considered an obscure practice, now it is a popular type of exercising. “I believe the biggest challenge [in yoga] is just getting the courage to try something different or new,” said Kristian to Shape Magazine, CMT. “Yoga is for everyone -- children, athletes, moms, dads, accountants, truck drivers, even country stars.”
Sugarland thinks yoga increases flexibility and strength, but those are not the only benefits. Among them are stress relief and improved overall fitness. There are different types of yoga so if you tried it and didn’t like it, maybe you didn’t exercise the right type for you.
Hatha-style yoga is gentler than Vinyasa style. Ashtanga yoga can be considered the basis for “power yoga” classes, being fast-paced. You can even mix yoga with Pilates or other exercise. Yoga is great for losing weight and finding your peace.
“The change in my body was quite a surprise. I have the waist size back that I had in college, and the mental benefit is tremendous. To take an hour or even a half-hour every day helps to keep my mind clear and make space for new things,” said Kristian Bush.
Jennifer Nettles practices yoga too. Sugarland uses some yoga positions in their shows. They call it “show-ga”. Nettles’ favorite part of the exercise is Savasana - the end of a yoga session - because it provides relaxation to the body after a strenuous session and cools down the body.
Yoga has been proven extremely effective for various disorders. It harmonizes the mind with the body and the result is you feel great and look likewise.
