The Meteor Shower Improves Your Fitness Program
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer
August 12, 2009

"Tears of St. Lawrence" aka Perseid Meteor Shower has been viewable since around July 17 and will stay visible probably until August 24.  It is to peak tonight between 12 and 5 a.m.  Do you know it brings other benefits besides a spectacular viewing?

There are exercises that help you benefit from the energy and collect the calm during a meteor shower, according to the San Jose Fitness Examiner.  Yoga can help you open your heart and enjoy the energy available.

Poses like cat/cow, triangle, half-moon, and wheel pose can help you achieve your inside peace.

Marjarasana Cat Cow

Put your hands under shoulders and knees under hips.  Inhale lift head and tail bone concaving the back.  Then exhale tuck tail bone under, round the back upward, head down.  Try to be fluid with your movements and start from the pelvis.  Repeat it in 10 series.  Don’t forget to breathe.

Trikonasana Triangle pose

Put your legs 4 feet apart - right foot 90º out and left foot slightly inwards.  Next inhale lift torso to extend spine and exhale bend sideways upper torso over the legs.  Hold for 20-30 seconds and breathe.  Do it on the other side too.

Spend more time in shavasana and pay attention to breathing in order to incorporate both calm and energy.

Yoga is not the only exercise you can do to achieve those things.  If you don’t like yoga, try a twilight walk, but focus on the deep breathing instead of speeding.  In the same time imagine you’re releasing all the bad feelings.

Before you go to bed inhale to the count of five and exhale to the count of five.  Do it for 3 times and imagine you collect a lot of positive energy.
