Thanksgiving Games for You and Your Family

Show you’re a creative person and bring new traditions this year’s Thanksgiving Day. Don’t give up the classic football game and turkey dinner; the day is long, so you can add new healthy habits. Do you want some examples?
This game is not recommended for kids under three years old and can be a bit messy. Popcorn Relay Race includes some bowls filled with popcorn and some empty ones, placed in opposite sides of a room. Teams must transport the popcorn from a full bowl to an empty one with a measuring cup. The winner is the team who empties their bowl first. Another interesting game is hunting the turkey. Well, not a real turkey, but several cards or stickers with a turkey picture will work just fine. There must be a leader and this leader hides the “turkeys”; meanwhile, all the other players leave the playground. Once he’s done, the hunt begins. Each hunter has a pile, corralled by the leader. When a hunter finds a turkey, he runs to the leader and gives it to him; the winner is the hunter with the most turkeys found. I’m sure you all know the “warmer...cooler” game when somebody seeks something. You can easily adapt this game for Thanksgiving Day. Name it “Where is Mr. Turkey?” and instead of “warm” or “cool” just… Gobble! So here are the rules: someone is the farmer and he has many helpers. The farmer leaves the playground as his helpers hide the “turkey.” The farmer’s mission is to find it, helped by his apprentice that will gobble slowly if the farmer is far from the turkey and louder as he approaches. Have someone mistaken you name? If so, you’re ready for the next game: Cornucopia Confusion. So you’re “n” players and you need “n-1” chairs. This game has a leader too. The leader gives the other players names like “pumpkin pie,” “turkey” and other nouns related to Thanksgiving. After every player has a new name, they sit on the chairs and those who hear their name called by the leader, must quickly switch places. Everything must happen quickly so, when the leader tells “the cornucopia has tipped over,” everybody runs to take a sit on the chair (including the leader). The player who’s caught standing on his feet loses. These games are both funny and great for burning extra calories. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! ©2009 Project Weight Loss.
