Have Some IQ-Booster for Breakfast!
By Andrea Pelin, Project Weight Loss Editor in Chief
December 16, 2007

If you thought that your intelligence is a gift, then you should know that the IQ may be improved through permanent training and a healthy diet. This training is not only mental, it`s a daily routine that includes a healthy diet, physical activity, and peaceful sleep. Here are a few steps to have a brilliant mind:

Step #1: Reduce stress.

Take short breaks during the day, don`t spend your free time working, and sleep at least eight hours per night, every night. You should also work out, stop drinking coffee, be realistic, laugh as much as possible, and keep a positive attitude.

Step #2: Do “aerobics” for your brain.

Mental exercises are a good way to improve your memory and increase your IQ. Try to find more ways to solve a problem, or do something that you enjoy, not too difficult, not too easy either.

Step #3: Start a diet for a healthy mind.

You can count your daily calorie intake in order to decrease your risk to develop diabetes or suffer from high blood pressure. Choose “good” fats for the brain such as omega-3 fatty acids found in olive oil, fish, and nuts. You should avoid high-fat milk and focus on products rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Fast-food products and processed food may increase the sugar level in the blood and this may affect the normal functioning of the brain.

Step #4: Stay active.

Bring more physical activity to your life and try a regular fitness program with aerobics, stretching, and exercises that strengthen your muscles.

Step #5: Change your lifestyle.

You may improve your IQ if you socialize more, meet new people, and learn new things from them. Be organized, use post-its, keep the same place for glasses or keys, keep an agenda, an organizer, and create a routine that helps you improve your memory. If you usually drink alcohol, do it with moderation. It`s also good for you to stop smoking.
