March 23, 2009A less known fact about Laura Bush is that she has been a constant promoter of healthy living and heart-disease prevention.
Laura Bush is also the ambassador for a campaign meant to inform women on the risks of suffering from heart disease and ways to prevent it. This campaign is also known as Heart Truth. More than eighty million Americans suffer from heart disease and one American dies every minute because of this condition, said Mrs. Bush.
The symptoms of a heart attack are different for men and women, noted Mrs. Bush. In case of women, people symptoms may include pains in the jaw, fatigue, pains in the neck, or difficulty breathing. She encourages women with these symptoms to go immediately to the hospital.
Previously, Bush has declared February as the American Hearth Month in order to raise awareness on the heart-diseases. In Kansas City, Mr. Bush met Joyce Cullen, the person who discovered the symptoms of heart disease thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Bush. Cullen believes this saved her life.
February is the month of Valentines. Mrs. Bush has recently asked Americans to protect their health and spread the word to others. The best Valentine`s gift you could give to someone is make sure that person takes care of his or her heart, according to Laura Bush.
