Celebrity Weight Loss Myths
By Andrea Pelin, Project Weight Loss Editor in Chief

Many celebrities do anything they can to look great, but just how far would they go, and what are the strangest methods they employ to lose weight? Here are a few of the most interesting weight loss myths from celebrities:

Myth #1: Carbohydrates are evil!

When she talked about her diet, Rihanna said that “carbs are the enemy!” Nowadays, more and more celebrities go for high-protein diets but it`s good to remember that fruits and vegetables also fall into the carbohydrate category. Carbs offer more energy and they may be the key to an intense workout. Dieters should keep their calorie intake under control.

Myth #2: Diets are no good!

Geri Halliwell has stated that diets don`t work and weight loss can only be caused by healthy eating. Until now, it seems that certain diets may lead to weight loss, and returning to the unhealthy eating habits is what makes people gain weight. However, this effect may be avoided if people make healthier food choices and keep under control their portion sizes.

Myth #3: Bread and desserts are weight loss enemies!

Jessica Alba has insisted that she quit bread and pudding to stay in shape. It is true that meals based on bread and desserts are high in calories but these foods also absorb large amounts of water and this can make you look heavier on the scale.

Myth #4: Sit-ups give you a flat stomach.

Posh Spice passed some advice to her fellow Spices on how to stay in shape during their tour: do 200 sit-ups per day.  This intense regime has certainly worked for her, according to Victoria Beckham. Unfortunately, sit-ups only tone the abdominal muscles, while the fat may remains on the tummy. Those who want to tone their abdominal muscles can swim, or do tummy-flattening exercises.

Myth #5: Lose weight with vodka.

Sienna Miller believes she can lose weight by switching from wine to vodka. Actually, there is no big difference between the calories from a glass of wine and vodka. People who want to avoid alcohol calories would better consume white wine spritzers.
