Have You Done Your Best to Be a Good Dad?
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer
January 22, 2010

Michael Douglas admitted he could have tried to be a better dad for Cameron, his eldest jailed son for selling drugs. Nobody says it’s an easy job to be a father, so here are some tips that might help you.

Cameron is Michael’s only child with Diandra Luker, his first wife. The actor is worried for his child, according to Reuters. “He's in a federal prison, and you've got some big, bad boys down there,” said Douglas.

Michael Douglas admitted that before he married Catherine Zeta-Jones the most important thing in his life was his career, situation that might had harmed Cameron. His lifestyle is now changed and his family is the most important thing.

Time flies very fast, so take advantage of every moment you can spend with your children. If you don’t set up this kind of relationship while they’re little, you might never do it when they’re adults.

Don’t argue with your wife in front of your children – one of you might lose his authority and affect kids. All relationships should be based on mutual respect.

When you decide you want to be a parent it means you are also aware of the huge, never-ending responsibility this implies. Fatherhood can be fun too, so you might want to show your kids you love them and you enjoy the time spent together.

Have you taught your kids the difference between right and wrong? Don’t forget to give a calm explanation when you teach them. Children should know it’s in human’s nature to make mistakes, but it is also important to learn something from them.

Children should know you’re a proud parent no matter what and they can rely on you. Try to be a father and a friend in the same time. The greatest gift you can give your kids is to always be there for them.
