Is a Low Carb Pizza Better than Big Lou's Pizza?
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer

“Man v. Food” returned on the Travel Channel. The new season debuts with a trip to San Antonio where the host Adam Richman visited Lulu’s Bakery and Café, Big Lou’s Pizza, and Chunky’s Burgers. Sometimes when you eat out and you’re on a diet, you can’t afford to eat anything, so what pizza is right for a diet? Is Big Lou’s Pizza right for dieters?

I doubt a mega pizza piled high with toppings is good for any diet, but this doesn’t mean there are no other delicacies. For those who are on a diet, here is a great recipe for a low carb Deep Dish Quiche Pizza, 4 servings.

Ingredients

4 ounces of cream cheese

20 slices of pepperoni

3 eggs

1/4 cup of parmesan cheese

1/3 cup of heavy cream

2 cups of shredded Italian cheese

1/4 cup of tomato sauce

1 cup of shredded mozzarella

1/2 teaspoon of oregano

1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder

Instructions

Beat the eggs with the cream cheese until smooth. Add the parmesan, spice, and cream. Take a nonstick cooking spray and use it on a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.

Put those 2 cups of shredded Italian cheese in the pan and pour the egg mixture over it. Then bake it for 30-40 minutes at 375o when it should be well browned.

Remove from oven and let it cool. Before the meal time, spread on 1/4 cup of tomato sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni. Bake it again for 10 minutes when the toppings should be bubbly and brown.

This pizza has about 6g of carbs, 54g of fat, 33g of protein and 654 calories.
