 Some people say President’s Obama favorite food is pizza, but his wife has revealed what’s the real one. So, what does Mr. President like to eat?

US President Barack Obama likes… chili! Michelle Obama mentioned this, but things were clear when reporters saw her husband eating a chili dog at one of his inauguration rehearsals, according to HELLO! Magazine.

If you want to try a homemade chili dog, here’s a low fat recipe:

Low fat chili dogs – eight servings; preparation time: 15 minutes; cooking time: 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, chopped;
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar;
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin;
  • 1 teaspoon of chipotle chili powder;
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano;
  • 1/2 cup of low fat Mexican cheese, shredded
  • 15 oz. of red kidney beans, drained;
  • 8 oz. of tomato sauce, unsalted;
  • 8 hot dogs rolls;
  • 8 fat-free hot dogs.

Instructions

Red beans should be rinsed and coarsely mashed. Combine chili powder, oregano, tomato sauce, beans, cumin, and sugar in a medium size saucepan. Simmer on medium heat for five minutes and stir often.

Spray the grill with nonstick cooking spray, heat over medium-high heat, and grill hot dogs for about five minutes; turn them on both sides. Next put them into the rolls, spoon chili over the top and sprinkle with onion and cheese.

Chili has many benefits; here’s a few of them:

  • can warm your feet;
  • have loads of vitamin c;
  • fight migraine and sinus headaches;
  • fight inflammation;
  • fight cancer;
  • prevent sinusitis and relieve congestion;
  • help lower high blood pressure;
  • help soothe intestinal diseases;
  • help burn fat and lose weight;
  • help protect your heart.

All these benefits might tempt you eat lots of chili dogs, but remember everything is good with moderation. Bon appétit!
