Would You Eat Goliath Tiger Fish?
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer June 01, 2010
Goliath Tiger is found in the Congo system, being the largest species of tiger fish. It can reach a weight of 45kg. How can you cook this monster? Tiger fish produce meaty, but slightly oily and bony fillets, according to Safari-Guide. It might be difficult to cook this fish because it is chunkier than other freshwater fish, but you can use both cutlets and fillets. You can finely mince the meat and create fish cakes. Or, you could pickle the fillets and cutlets. Another way to cook this fish is to lightly boil the cutlets in water, next place it in a baking tray with onions, tomatoes, little oil, seasoning, and bake. The good thing is the flesh will easily fall away from the bones. Eating fish has lots of benefits: Fish is a great source of omega 3 fatty acids, is high in protein and low in fat. Pregnant women who eat fish may lower the risk of premature birth. Still, some fish have high levels of mercury and should be eaten rarely. Those who want to go fishing should know that tiger fish is not really dangerous to humans, but a spearfisherman once had to have 16 stitches because of a wound from a tiger fish. ©2010 Project Weight Loss.
