Black raspberries are the new weapon against Barrett`s Esophagus. These fruits can prevent reflux turning into a deadly form of cancer, according to researchers at Ohio State University`s Comprehensive Cancer Center. The researchers followed people who suffered from Barrett`s Esophagus and drank a mixture of black raspberry powder and water for six months. The results showed that the black raspberries mixture helped people get rid of the reflux acid or at least reverse its negative impact.
The findings showed that almost four people in ten noticed a boost in a protective enzyme. The researchers also noticed a decline in oxidative stress in case of six participants in ten. Oxidative stress is believed to cause cell damage.
The results are of great importance since one in ten people who suffers from Barrett`s Esophagus will develop deadly cancer of the esophagus. However, future research is necessary in order to establish the exact connection between black berries consumption and the patients with Barrett`s Esophagus.
