Kelly Choi Is Decided to Save the Earth
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer
June 11, 2009

Kelly Choi is the host of Bravo’s cooking competition “Top Chef Masters”.  After she has seen one of Oprah’ shows she decided to live eco-friendly and that will keep her healthy.  She helps the planet by helping herself.

“I walk a lot, never go shopping unless I have a reusable bag, and turn off lights,” says Kelly Choi.  But is that all she’s doing?  I doubt that.  I’ll present you 5 eco-friendly ways that will improve your health.

Quit smoking

Despite the fact this habit has been banned in hotels, restaurants, and bars people still expose themselves to lung cancer and other ailments.  Smoking also pollutes the air and affects non-smokers.

Use your car less

Children and the elderly are at the most risk because of emissions released by cars.  Reducing your idling is green because you won’t contribute to global warming and acid rains.

Choose walking or biking when you go to work

Exercise helps you lose weight and build muscles.  By doing Cardiovascular exercises you’ll make a good to your heart and you’ll fight depression.  Walking or biking is green because you use the most natural of resources – your legs.

Reduce the fish and red meat consumption

Red meat contains saturated animal fats that contribute to atherosclerosis, heart diseases, and colon cancer.  Eating lots of fish you risk contaminating with mercury.  Reducing these is green because the transportation of livestock and their meats may have a high carbon footprint.  Plus, fish need time to recoup their numbers, but it’s kind of difficult since we face over fishing.

Choose organic foods

Organic foods have less pesticide residues, more nutrients, and a higher level of antioxidants.  Eating these foods is green because you won’t support pesticides which harm the Earth.  Once they get to the water supply they will kill the fish and other animals.

Because you’re an active person or because you’re afraid of death, choosing these eco-friendly ways you’ll improve your health.
