President Obama's Advice for Better Results in School

By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer
September 08, 2009

President Obama calls attention to distractions that make students skip classes or not listen to their parents. From the transcript of the speech released by the White House it seems the President will press for better schools and for more implication from teachers and parents into the children's education.

“At the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world – and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed” is a part of the President’ speech.

The power of concentration is in strict accordance with nutrition too. Do not underestimate the power of breakfast. According to studies, children who eat breakfast regularly have a better behavior, better standardized test scores than those who skip breakfast.

Sugary breakfast cereals should be avoided; also syrup and white-flour pancakes because can leave the child tired and hungry for the morning. A good breakfast could be made of whole grain toast with nut butter, eggs, fruits and milk. Proteins and fibers keeps the body satisfied until the next meal.

At lunch children should eat vegetables and salads, not pizza, French fries and soda. As for the after-school snack, kids can eat vegetables, dips nuts and other fruits.

More than good results in schools, children can learn to choose healthy foods as adults too. It is important to teach your children how to eat healthy – important for school results, important for their health, important for the choices they will make as adults.
