Tamala Jones from “Castle” Talks about Health
By Alex Baran, Project Weight Loss Staff Writer
October 13, 2009

“Castle” has been an ABC hit, so they also launched a new book, “Heat Wave,” that is written from Richard Castle's viewpoint - a best-seller mystery writer. “Castle” includes other interesting people, who worth listening to. Why is Tamala Jones worth listening to?

Going forward to “Castle” characters, we find the medical examiner Lanie Parish, her role being played by Tamala Jones. Her presence has been felt no matter the role she played. In an interview for Essence she talked about why she got breast implants and about her near-death experience.

There was a time when the actress disappeared from the scene. She had health problems. “At 23, I almost died from a brain aneurysm. It popped from extreme stress,” she said. “I tell people if you have a pain you need to go to the doctor and not ignore it. Young people think things like that only happen to old people.”

A brain aneurysm happens when there is a bump in the blood vessels that are located in the brain. In was estimated that 3-5% of the Americans has an aneurysm. Once it happens, the risk of stroke increases. To avoid it, you should take into consideration the following advice: maintain your weight and exercise with regularity. Give up smoking because it makes blood vessels to narrow, increasing the risk of aneurysm. Nutrition is important so avoid fats and eat fiber. Also, check your blood pressure - blood pressure problems are another risk factor for brain aneurysms.

Breast implants seem a good idea at first, but not so much after a while. “I hate that I got the breast augmentation. I was tired of constantly being told to tape my breast to make it appear I had more cleavage, so I said let me just take care of it all at once, and I did, but I think I hurt myself by thinking I had to do that,” said Tamala Jones.

Here are seven arguments against breast implants:

  • You may need a second corrective surgery;
  • The surgery can be expensive and painful;
  • Larger breasts can lead to shoulder and back pain;
  • The surgeons may not be specialized in breast augmentation surgery;
  • Breast augmentation doesn’t look natural;
  • There’s a chance to lose the sensitivity in the nipples, even more, the breast overall;
  • Silicone and saline breast implants have been known to rupture or leak.

Some decisions may have a huge impact in your life. Be careful what’s the path you choose in life and take care of your health because money and love are nothing without it.
