October 14, 2009Atlantic Sports Health helps golf pro Annika Sorenstam promote healthy living and fitness for kids at a fund raiser in New Jersey. Annika has 72 LPGA wins and her name is on the World Golf Hall of Fame. Is it important to focus on children's physical activity?
At the event kids will learn how to play golf, among other fun-and-fitness attractions. Atlantic Sports Health and Annika Sorenstam will explain to the kids how to live healthy and stay fit. Kids will also receive autographs from the golf pro. They want to encourage children to athletic activity, letting them know about safety on and off the field too.
Golf has many benefits, but I would like to present you five of them. The first one and the most important, if you ask me, is that it helps you lose weight. Besides that I can mention cardio workout, vitamin D, better sleeping and making new friends.
Golf gives "weight-bearing exercise" a new meaning – it helps prevent bone degeneration, including osteoporosis. It is also a great way to release stress from your shoulders using a strapped golf bag.
Physical activity helps children develop their bodies, brains, ability to learn, and social skills. If children are not taught from early childhood to enjoy exercise, they might end up avoiding it. Who do kids follow? Their role models! Who are kids’ role models? Their parents! If kids don’t see their parents exercising, they won’t be physically active either, so parents should promote sports to their children.
Playing with your children is a good way to spend the time, to show them that exercising can be fun, and even improve your health. Remember that any kind of physical activity is healthy.
