Boost Your Immune System in Winter

Winter makes you think about hot drinks and snow, but consider taking extra care of your health in this cold season. Children’s immune system fights harder – at school or in other indoor places kids spread flu bugs and share germs. How can you avoid a cold in the family? To strengthen your immune system some chemical messengers, blood cells, and organs team up and defend you from infections. No matter if it’s about adults or children, a key role in boosting health is played by nutrition, according to Evansville Courier & Press. Don’t go from one extreme to another – it’s not healthy for you or your kid to isolate from the rest of the world. Some studies have shown that certain types of exposure to germs might help the immune system modulate a response more effectively. Eggs, meat, soy, beans (generally proteins) help your body build blocks for white blood cells, which are important for killing bacteria and viruses. Vegetables and fruits offer a variety of vitamins that fuel the system. Be careful if you choose supplements because in high doses they might harm your health. Instead, consider adopting a balanced diet with lots of healthy foods. Sleep also helps strengthen your immune system. Not getting enough sleep can bring a negative influence on your body. Besides, sleepy people are usually cranky and nobody likes that kind of people. Any kind of physical activity is good for health. Even a walk can cheer you up. Include your family in any activity to make it more fun. Bottom of line, eat healthy, get enough sleep, and exercise a little – these are “the secrets” for a healthy lifestyle. ©2010 Project Weight Loss. All rights reserved.
