Here’s a great recipe for a family supper, delicious even if you are on a diet. Besides the fact it’s easy to prepare, this recipe is also hearty and healthy. It’s best to serve it with fat-free sour cream or yogurt, according to Fiona Haynes. So here it is: Turkey Chili, four servings, cooking time: 30 minutes. Ingredients - 1 tablespoon of olive oil;
- 2 tablespoons of chili powder;
- 4 tablespoons of chopped cilantro;
- 4 tablespoons of fat-free sour cream or yogurt;
- 2 teaspoons of ground cumin;
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground coriander;
- 1 red bell pepper, without seeds and chopped;
- 1 big onion, finely chopped;
- 1/2 stick of celery, chopped;
- 3/4 pound of 99% fat-free ground turkey;
- 1 8-ounce can of tomato sauce, unsalted;
- 1 14 1/2-ounce can of crushed tomatoes;
- 1 15-ounce can of black beans, rinsed and drained.
Instructions Start by heating oil in a large Dutch oven. Next add celery, onion, garlic, and pepper. Cook until onions become translucent; it should take about five minutes. Crumble the turkey with a wooden spoon and put it into the pan. Cook it until it’s no longer pink; it should take about five minutes. Then stir in cumin, chili powder, oregano, and coriander. Add in tomato sauce and tomatoes, and simmer for 10 minutes while stirring occasionally. Next add beans, mix, and let it cook on low heat for 5 to 10 minutes. Ladle into bowls and it’s ready to serve. As I was said before, you can add some fat-free sour cream or yogurt and cilantro.
